When I think too much about it, Everyday Slouch is a very funny name.  Sometimes I wish I could slouch every day.

Seriously, it’s a very nice hat and a very quick knit (did you forget someone on your Christmas knit list?).  The Himalaya Everyday Big knits up beautifully and has a very nice hand feel.  The project only needs one ball, and is economical as well as attractive.

Everyday Slouch



Materials: One ball Himalaya Everyday Big (100% Anti-pilling Acrylic, 100g, 80m), 40cm 8mm circular needle (or 8mm DPNs), 60cm 12mm circular needle, 12mm DPNs

Gauge:  10cm = 11st on smaller needles

Abbreviations: sk2psso = slip one, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over.


On smaller needles, cast on 46 stitches. Join to work in the round.

Work in 1×1 rib for 3cm.

Set up round: (knit 10, m1) 4 times, knit to end.

Switch to larger needles.

Round 1:  (k2, yo, sk2psso, yo) 10 times

Round 2: knit

Repeat these two rounds until work measures 20cm.

Decrease section:

Round 1: (k2tog, yo, sk2psso, yo) 10 times

Round 2 (and all even rounds): knit

Round 3: (k1, yo, sk2psso) 10 times

Round 5: (yo, sk2psso) 10 times

Round 7: k2tog 10 times

Bind off all stitches, weave in ends.
